What structural change in Asia means for long-term portfolios

For much of the past two decades, Asian equity allocations were framed around export growth and manufacturing scale. That framing is increasingly out of date.

Domestic consumption now drives a larger share of growth across China, India and the ASEAN economies than at any point in Bern Capital Venture's history of covering the region, and the companies best placed to capture it often sit outside the largest index constituents.

At the same time, supply chains are being reorganised around resilience rather than pure cost minimisation, creating a second, distinct opportunity set among suppliers, logistics operators and component makers repositioning across borders.

Our Asia Opportunities Strategy is built around both of these shifts, weighted toward companies where we can verify the structural story directly with management and suppliers, rather than infer it from index composition.
